The GirlsGetSET scheme is aimed at girls and consists of multiple Science, Engineering and Technology-related activities run over an academic year. Their focus is to educate and demonstrate to students that careers within these subjects are exciting and challenging, and enable them to be creative and to use their imagination.
Their aim is to inspire girls to consider the massive opportunities open to them if they consider a career in SET (Science, Engineering and Technology). They have some great alumnae stories to share and they will also celebrate women’s innovation, embrace diversity, and gain an insight into building a world that works through careers in SET.
Inviting secondary schools local to the Baker Hughes Newcastle site who will be interested in allowing 10-15 girls in Year 8 to participate in the upcoming GirlsGetSet STEM programme.

Later in the year, they will host two more virtual events (dates TBC) on ‘building your personal brand’ and ‘emotional intelligence’. Upon completion of the programme, the girls will be invited to attend a graduation celebration at their Newcastle Site, and will also be awarded with an accredited Bronze Industrial Cadets Award.
