The Reece Foundation will be inspiring schoolchildren and highlighting potential careers in STEM subjects next month when it supports the manufacturing zone at STEMFest.
The interactive exhibition will be held on 4th, 5th & 6th July at the VERTU Motors Arena in Newcastle for north east schoolchildren in key stages 2 and 3.
This event is organised by the North East STEM Hub which is delivered by RTC North. It offers attending young people the opportunity to meet, engage and connect with North East businesses and employers.
STEMFest is set to inspire, highlighting potential careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This year the event is focused on four different industry themed zones; Space, Technology (Cyber Security), Environment and Energy, and Manufacturing.
The Reece Foundation aims to increase the long term and sustainable prosperity of the North East, primarily by supporting engineering in the region through funding and education. The Foundation has a strong focus on the improvement of education in engineering and related scientific and mathematical subjects, training in engineering skills, and the development of employment opportunities.
Anne Reece, Chair of the Reece Foundation said: “It's great for the Reece Foundation to be supporting such an inspiring event. We believe it is very important to support opportunities like STEMFest for the next generation . In sponsoring the Manufacturing Zone, we hope to inspire the younger generation and provide more educational and employment opportunities which will have a positive impact on people's lives and make a difference to the north east region."
Claire Willis, North East STEM Hub’s Team Leader and coordinator of STEMFest comments:
“I want to thank the Reece Foundation for supporting and being a part of our event. The Reece Foundation is a provider of prosperity and enjoyable employment. They believe it is important to encourage students to become enthused and excited by engineering and ultimately inspired to become our engineers of the future and this is what STEMFest sets out to achieve.
With ongoing support from businesses including the Reece Foundation and our headline sponsor this year, Cummins, we can in return support the next generation into STEM sectors and work towards recruiting future workforces and support the region’s economy."
